Tripmi.ie is a 100% secure online community that lets friends, neighbours, co-workers and friends you haven't met yet arrange carpools. Also, you the user has complete control over who can see your profile information, ensuring privacy and trust amongst this carpooling community.
We started Tripmi to help people share their car trips, having seen the endless miles of single occupancy car traffic stretching in and out of our towns and cities every rush hour. 86% of car journeys in Ireland are driver only, and the average commuter emits 118 tonnes of carbon (CO2) a year. A ton of CO2 occupies 556.2m³ of volume which is over half a kilometre cubed. Imagine.
With the current economic crisis, accelerating climate change and mounting traffic chaos, changing our car use habits in this country is more urgent than ever. It's not just about doing the right thing, it's also fun. You never know who might meet!
Our mission at Tripmi is simple: we want to enable road users to combine their journeys; to make driving alone a thing of the past; and to expand the Tripmi beyond carpooling into other forms of sharing resources. The Tripmi blog, provides news, products and ideas based on these values.
Tripmi's philosophy is "Private Enterprise for the Public Good". In line with this ethos a percentage of all Tripmi post-tax profits will go to child-focused and environmental charities.
When you join Tripmi we match you with your first TripMate, TripMia, an 8 year old Havanese terrier, Ireland's most dedicated car-pooler. TripMia's the ideal TripMate as she doesn't talk, she doesn't smoke, she doesn't shed and you can choose whatever music you want - although she loves to car-surf out the car window to speed metal. TripMia is also Tripmi's resident blogger (which she refers to as her "dog-blog").
We are constantly working on improving our service and will be adding new features on a regular basis, so if you have any feedback or ideas we'd love to hear them!

Meet the Team
The Founders - Liz Gill and Breda Walsh
Liz and Breda have been working in film and television since the early '90s, and currently work as Writer/Director (Liz) and Line Producer/Producer (Breda) on a variety of projects. Besides working freelance with various production companies, Liz and Breda also collaborate and in 2003 made the feature film "Goldfish Memory" together. They are currently developing another feature film project, "My Summer Vacation", a family drama set in Connecticut, USA.
Outside of their professional lives, Liz and Breda share a passion for positive change. Tripmi was born from this desire, and they are enthusiastic about the current global trend towards social responsibility. To this end, the majority of Tripmi profits will go to support good causes, and in time Tripmi users will be involved in deciding where such funds are to go.
The Designer - Cormac Kelly (Birdie Design)
Cormac is a digital media designer specialising in web design, web application design and flash animation. He runs Birdie, a small web design studio based in Dublin, where he works with all sorts of clients, from large design and advertising agencies to small businesses and start-ups.

The Developers - Ian Huet and Loughlin McSweeney (ChoiceCuts)
ChoiceCuts is a Dublin-based Music promoter, Digital Services and Graphic Design company. Lead developers Ian and Loughlin have over 15 years of combined experience using open-source web development technologies and standards-based web design techniques.
When ChoiceCuts are not busy promoting artists like De La Soul, Q-Tip and Horace Andy they are busy developing web applications and providing graphic design services for various industries in Ireland and beyond.
